Boulogne is a very pleasant town and is situated half an hour's drive along the A16 from Calais. The town has the typical French ambience and is extremely serene. The old town of Boulogne boasts much architectural beauty.

There is a much wider choice in Calais but many of those staying over upon arrival or before departure prefer the atmosphere of this town. Choice however is limited and if you are last off the ferry and without a reservation you may not be so lucky. Pre booking is a good idea to ensure you get good value and don't have to drive further and navigate your way around Calais.
